About me and my blog

I am a psychoanalyst. Since 2007, me and a group of my like-minded friends got involved in the project developing a model of the human psyche based on user internet activity.

Initially, the project was tailored to the purpose of therapy, but soon after it migrated to the IT and related areas – web resources personalization, gamedevelopment, bigdata (obtained results became instrumental in the development of artificial intelligence technology since 2013).

It so happened that our solutions were all conceived as B2B and we lucked out to rub elbows with PTBs (up to some vice presidents and CEOs), and worked with lots of major companies (except – surprisingly – the mighty FB) and a large number of medium and small ones. Therefore, I can see the Internet phenomena both with the eyes of the user, and the ones of the product developer. And further still, I can understand and explain the obvious – from the psychoanalyst’s point of view – reasons for the failure of certain decisions and the ones for the success of others. It may sound presumptuous, but I am ready to debate. )

But first and foremost, here I blog about the model of the psyche, the problems it can solve, and also on the psychological needs of users and on managing their behavior.

Got lost in the real world and have no time for bloging something meaningful. But here’s my colleague’s thoughts on AI. Treat yourself :)

On BigData and Data Mining

d6e84ebb4166d0c353801f04e7f175bd

Functional dependencies singled out in BigData lately are quite interesting but. When it comes to analyzing and predicting human behavior unlike – for example – analyzing statistical data on failures of complex technical systems, the psychoanalyst in me starts having strong doubts.

Data mining and main personal characteristic

Снимок-экрана-2014-10-08-в-21.45.49

One of the tasks we recently solve at most is behavioural data processing, – behavioural data of Internet users. As for a user’s behaviour – what do you think what personal trait mainly influences his/her behaviour in the web? Do you think of gender? Age? Social status? No, no, and no. This is it that is much ahead of other traits influencing behaviour.

User manipulation markers

Me and my colleagues were analyzing a large data set on the user behavior of a whole linguistic-cultural group the other day. We were identifying the changes in the priority objects in processes of gratifying the needs. Kinda like at first everyone wanted to eat and were looking at food pictures and now the majority wants sex, so they’re downloading porn).
So we’ve found an interesting phenomenon…

Снова об этике в инете. В этот раз хочу сказать о своем видении этики, как элемента обеспечивающего успешность сервиса. Или, хотя бы, как фактора отсутствия серьезных ошибок в стратегии.

Evading fading

age

On Aggression In Comments And Online Chats

8

I’d like to share my opinion on certain aspect of aggression. Namely – on verbal abuse in the comments and online chatting. Trolls deserve their own personal article. Now I refer only to direct verbal aggression – bashing, bullying, insults, threatening the discussers.

On Internet As A Myth, Pt II

Piero_di_Cosimo_037

As promised, today I’ll tell you about the aspects the Internet derived from the myth. It should be reminded that the Web – along with the myth, mysteries, theater and media – exploits the feature of the psyche lies in the fact that the human mind does not distinguish between reality and human perception of it.

On Internet As A Myth

s

I decided to play smartass or as my colleagues like to say ‘to level up’ :) Unfinished PhD thesis on philosophy keeps me restless :) Those unwilling to stomach this discourse just skip the posts tagged ‘smartass’.
Contemplating the nature of the Internet, I’d put it alongside with the following phenomena of the human phylogeny /in order of appearance/: partaking in rituals, myths, fairy tales, art, theater, and recently acquired – media.
